“Oh how I wish I could have worn them myself! I always kept them hidden from everybody, because I didn’t want anybody to know I loved such beautiful things.”

Antoinette’s mother married a man who liked to cross-dress. When she was in High School, her step-father entered Antoinette in the city of Southgate competition for “Queen and her Court”. She won Princess and was in the Rose Parade. She made her own dress made of blue satin with a Corseted top, rolls of ruffles, with a hoop underneath it.

"Everybody admired it, and thought it was the most gorgeous thing they had ever seen!"

Her mother saw that she had potential and suggested that after high school Antoinette attend Woodbury Fashion Design Business School. She was there from 1956-1958.

Antoinette got married in 1958 and moved to Fresno where she worked while putting her husband through medical school. They had two children together, and when her husband graduated from medical school, he left her.

Antoinette took her two children and moved to Orange County. It was there that she met her second husband, Dick. Before they got married he handed her a book which was all about “Boots”. Antoinette had no clue what this was about, but it didn’t bother her at all.
