Though I had been in love many times, my wife was the first woman to ever reciprocate my feelings. She was free-spirited, a women's lib supporter, she was also more experienced, more mature and had more wisdom than I and I admired her for all that. However, once married we had frictions when it came to decision making: she had expected that in view of her superior personal characteristics this responsibility would be hers, but deep down I was still a traditionalist who took for granted that men had to be in charge. So I fought back and she was not happy about that, even less so when her career went better than mine.

Then came the matter of opening up our marriage. Since my wife had been my sole sex partner so far and I was curious about sex with another woman, I was all pro. But whereas I felt that we should swing as a couple, she was adamant about extra-marital sex being a strictly individual matter. We could not reach an agreement, and the matter was put off. At least so I thought, because I would soon find out that she went through with it, having one night stands when traveling for her job.

I was pretty upset when she told me... particularly when I heard that she did not intend to give up her new lifestyle. She loved me and wanted to grow old with me, but how on earth could I deny her the right to enjoy herself when she was traveling and away from me anyhow?
