Over the next couple of years our lives were full. We were busy with a new house and everything that that entailed. The only dark cloud over everything was my career. I wasn’t making it and when I turned 29 it was obvious I wouldn’t be appearing in this years Olympics. Fiona was supportive at first, but as time went on and I tried to get into the workforce and I had trouble finding what I was looking for, Fiona made a decision that I would stay home full time. She was making enough money to support both of us. It wasn’t what I wanted, but what I wanted was not important. I decided to support her as a good man should and I tended to her every demand. She was never very interested in house work and I didn’t seem to find it a chore. She started to call me her little maid女仆 — a woman servant.
