Without even thinking or her consciously knowing, I "accidentally" took on roles where I remained behind and she progressed. My secure but boring job paid reasonably well. At first, my wife remained at home. After our second daughter was born, I encouraged my wife to get a university degree in a field she was interested in: archaeology. Some early studies could be done at home. Later, we arranged daycare while she attended university and got her degree and eventually her doctorate.

As she spent more time in her studies and research, I spent more time with my daughters. My wife became more of the disciplinarian towards our daughters, when required, but I didn't really spoil the girls. However, I always granted their reasonable requests. If they wanted to go to the park or the zoo, I always stopped what I was doing to satisfy their requests. My wife was a good parent, but sometimes she said "no" to requests from our daughters. But my daughters were princesses and one always meets the demands of a princess. I knew I wasn't the only man who "spoiled" daughters. But I wasn't spoiling them: they were learning that men should cater to them. I once heard that "daughters wrap fathers around their little fingers." It's so true -- as it should be.
