One daughter became a medical doctor and the other became a lawyer. Shortly after starting their rapidly expanding careers, they moved out -- but not far from me. They each bought their own home. They are busy women and loving their active careers. I took early retirement about the time they moved out. I am expected to go over to their homes daily to clean, do laundry, and maintain the lawn and garden. In short, they know it is my duty to keep their homes spotless for them. Upon request, which is often, I am to have a good meal ready for them when they get home and then clean up. When they have dinner parties for friends or a boyfriend, I am required to cater, and service is expected to be outstanding, with me totally in the background and out of site as much as possible. Their hours can vary. I feel badly if both want me at different places at the same time, and they have to discuss where my services are to be. Often, one will book me, then "trade me" to the other. I get traded often. I feel like a hockey player being traded between teams! Wonderful! I love every minute of it. If I didn't need some sleep, I'd give them more time. They order me to perform various duties and chores without even a suggestion that they should say "please" or that I should be thanked. It is I who thanks them for allowing me to be such a close part of their lives. I am a very lucky father, indeed.
