Ms Kathleen's Movie Review
Screen 4 of 8
Dead broke with no prospects Joe decides to "wrap up the whole Hollywood deal and go home" with a bus ticket back to Dayton, Ohio returning to a $35 a week job behind the copy desk of the Dayton Evening Post.
As he is driving along, he suddenly spots the repossession men stopped at a traffic light - he speeds away to elude them. When his left front tire suffers a blowout, he pulls into a driveway and ditches his car in a big five-car empty garage of the 10086 Sunset Boulevard properties with a mansion, in an exclusive residential section of town where great Hollywood stars live.
When Joe is mistaken as the animal mortician for Norma's beloved pet monkey he seizes upon this opportunity as a possible way to make a few bucks. Norma informs Joe she is working on the script, "Salome" which will hail her triumphant return to the silver screen. After Joe reads the hideous script he says it's good but could be better with some reworking wherein Norma immediately hires him to do the job for $500/wk.
Another factoid about this movie- many film versions of "Salome" have actually been produced, including one in 1953. It's the story about a princess in love with a Holy Man. She dances the Dance of the Seven Veils. He rejects her, so she demands his head on a golden tray, kissing his cold, dead lips.
