“When Catherine Spaak's husband dies, she discovers a hitherto hidden room on their estate. The room is surrounded by mirrors and curious sexual devices; when Spaak takes a peek at hubby's diary, she learns he was carrying on a secret life that made Sacher-Masoch and Krafft-Ebbing look like pikers. Deciding that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, Spaak begins to conduct her own kinky sex life. Doctor Jean-Louis Trintigant, who sincerely loves Spaak, tries to deflect her from whips, boots and handcuffs, but before long he too succumbs to the seductions of aberrant behavior.”
I immediately thought I had hit the jackpot. Then I read what was on the movie poster for “The Libertine”;
“Makes Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Penthouse look like a nursery school” --- ABC TV
I thought, ‘Playboy Penthouse’ isn’t that like saying ‘Time-Life’? I didn’t know they had merged, but shortly into watching the film I realized I had read the poster incorrectly. It was Hugh's ‘Playboy apartment’ that looked like a nursery school, not the content of his magazine. Either I'm dizzy or that was a terrible use of words by the ABC TV movie critic. Hmmm, 'Playboy Penthouse' and now 'TV Movie' critic. I wonder, is there such a person as a ‘Movie TV’ critic?.
