Real Stories - March/April 2007

Screen 13 of 26

My lack of sexual experience was partly out of fear, the fear of intimacy, pregnancy, and the fear of somehow doing the wrong thing morally. I grew up during the mid 1980’s during the height of the “just say no” Aids sex education when scare tactics were easier to teach in High School then really educating young people about safe sex. Also I was raised in a “wait until marriage” family environment. I had a strong sexual desire to explore my sexuality but only within the safety of masturbation and fantasy.

That is until I met a wonderful 19 year old woman who I stared dating. Our relationship started like all my previous relationships, we began to “hang out” as friends instead of having real dates. I was very happy getting to know her and was too shy to ever push for more. I believed that it was up to the woman to make clear what she wanted out of the relationship and when or how it would progress.
