Why are you thanking me? Your wife and her lawyer are the ones who have placed you in this position. No, let me re-phrase that. You are the one who has placed yourself in this position because you signed the contract of your own freewill. I am not familiar with this particular law but I would imagine that you had to “admit” (either in writing or under oath) that you had some sort of a problem. Didn’t they have to be specific about your problem? Was it gambling? Or drugs? Can they really be vague and just say that you were “irresponsible”? I am not a lawyer so I don’t know about the legalities but I do know that in most states one can always get a legal contract written up that says just about anything. A wife can have her husband sign all assets over to her legally if both parties are willing and there is no coercion. So again, you signed the contract so this is what you wanted and now you must live with the ramifications.
