2) (Here is the real questions) If you believe I should accede to my wife's wishes per question # 1, recognizing that this change will take real effort on my part, should I advise my wife of this decision? The reason I ask is I am not certain which would be the better course of action. On the one hand, I feel that respecting my wife's wisdom and insight should be automatic and that telling her that I have problems doing so may give the impression that I don't care for and love her the way I should. Yet on the other hand, I recognize that altering my long held habits will be challenging and if I solicit her support and assistance, I believe success in that area will be better assured. The idea is somewhat akin to a professional athlete using a trainer. Yes, the athlete has the raw talent to achieve great things, but it is the trainer that provides support and focus to improve performance.

I don't know if I have given you sufficient information to adequately respond to my questions, but any general advice and insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

A. Instead of addressing your question as it pertains to your situation, perhaps it would be more beneficial if I shared my philosophy as it pertains to authority, decision making and responsibilities in a marriage.
