Bringing this back to your concern that women would abuse men in a similar manner that men have abused women within patriarchal societies, I think the key here is to understand the differences between men and women. How often do you hear about men abusing women, children and animals compared to women abusing men, children or animals? The percentages are overwhelming male. Spousal abuse cases are ninety percent male. Child abuse cases are eighty-five percent male. And animal abuse cases are ninety-eight percent male. Prison incarcerations for violent crimes are ninety-three percent male. I’ve posted these statistics in the past and have posted links and sources. My purpose here is not to belabor these statistics but rather to point out how males are more likely to abuse others. That is a by-product of the dark side of the male nature. Males are by nature more aggressive and confrontational. Add in the restlessness of males and the dangers of the male ego and you have the formula of extremism.
