Most devoted Christians that I know are also very patriotic. They equate God with liberty and American Christians equate their freedom as a right given by God. The founders of the United States wrote this in the Declaration of Independence. I agree that God desires for people to live in freedom but what good is that freedom if people are afraid to exercise their freedom? Liberty by its very nature creates choices. Established religions flourish in freedom and new ideals and belief systems are created in freedom. People are creative beings and free people will use their God-given intellect and sense of adventure to expand their horizons. Like-minded people will congregate. All of this is inevitable and part of the human condition.
