Why did Eve partake of this tree first? I believe it was because she was more intelligent. She was drawn to knowledge. She didn’t give Adam an apple she gave him knowledge. Eve was in authority over Adam and she taught him. This is not just talking about two people either but the early human race. Women were in authority over men because women had the more advanced intellect (and they still do if you look at what is happening today from grade school to higher learning).

But why was knowledge a curse? Because it eventually led them away from their relationship with their Creator. The tree of Life was the life force which came from that spiritual connection with God. People are spirits who have a soul (mind, will, emotions) and they live in a body. If people overly live in the soulish realm (trusting their own intellect) and neglect the spiritual, they will die spiritually and physical death is the result of spiritual death. God told Adam and Eve to choose life, meaning cling to me because I am your life force.
