Q. Dear Ms Sutton: I have been an avid reader of your excellent website for well over a year now and have written to you once in the past. I am writing now because I wonder if the imbalance between the number of dominant women and submissive顺从 — willing to obey men really is a great as we all believe. My recent experience suggests to me that there are many women who harbor secret desires to take on the dominant role in a relationship. It may well be that we males, as usual, are not capable of defining the strengths and characteristics of the women we meet and simply miss the opportunities as they occur.
I was the subservient husband of a very dominant woman for over ten years. Sadly Marion died in March last year and, for many months, I felt destitute and utterly alone. Although not openly or publicly dominant, her activities locally (running a Women’s Shelter etc.) clearly indicated that she was an empowered woman. Her close friends knew she "wore the pants" but always regarded me as a nice gentle, accommodating guy who did everything he could to help her in any way. I did not think they regarded our marriage as a Femme女性化 — feminine Domme女主人 — a dominant woman relationship.
