You have no idea what the future will hold but that should motivate you to make the most out of today. If people took your attitude, no one would ever get married. Why get married if one day my partner might leave me or might pass from this world? I might as well just sit here all alone because I don’t want to one day be all alone. Does that make sense?

You will experience emotionally hurt and pain in this life, this I can guarantee you. We lose our parents and family members and we have to endure the pain but we get over it and we honor those that have passed by living life to its fullest. Rarely will both spouses pass at the same time. One is left behind and they can honor the one who passed from this world by living, not by being consumed with grief. Perhaps you should seek out spiritual guidance. Faith can greatly help a person overcome the fear of death. If you believe that you wife is a spiritual being who happens to live in this natural body, if she passes, you can take comfort in that she has gone to a better place and you will one day see her again. But while the two of you are together here in this natural world, you owe it to her to give her your best every single day. She deserves your passion and your mind and your body. Above all, she deserves your heart and any time you give your heart you risk being hurt. But that is the essence of living. Take care.
