I also respectfully disagree with your characterization of your domineering mother as a woman who was selfish or self-focused. The opposite was more than likely the case. She probably suffered from low self-esteem and if she exhibited unhealthy domineering ways it was probably the manifestation of her emotional scars and her low self-image. A woman who views herself as worthy of a man’s love and submission usually has a healthy self-image and rarely will you find a woman with a healthy self-image emotionally abusing others. A person who snaps at others, yells, screams, has a temper, or tries to dominate in an unnatural and unhealthy way is demonstrating a defense mechanism to protect themselves from experiencing more hurt and pain. A woman who emotionally abuses her husband and children is not demonstrating loving female authority (which is what I endorse).
