As many of my readers know, I am a Christian and one of my favorite aspects of studying scriptures is that it also allows you to study words. English is a Germanic language, but about 65% of its content words come from Latin and Greek. I believe that words are spiritual in nature (John 1:1). Words are what separate humans from animals. Our brains form creative thoughts and we share those thoughts with others through words. All words were created by a human being and were assigned a meaning. When people hear a word, their minds form a mental picture and depending on that mental picture their intellect and emotions will react based on the person’s interpretation of the word. Words are merely messengers that carry the creativity of the human soul. That is why God is referred to as the Living Word in scripture, not because of literary skill but because of a creative spirit.

A word can induce love, joy and even sexual arousal. But a word can also induce anger, sadness and strife. How people react to certain words depends on that person’s nature and experiences. One person may see the word “womyn” and become angry as they may think it is an assualt on their traditional values. Whereas another person may see the word “womyn” and become excited because that word may represent to them female empowerment.
