Real Life Stories - December 2016
Screen 2 of 25
On television, one of my favourite shows is “Medium”. In it Joe Dubois (the husband of the star, “Alison”) is the epitomy of a stay-at-home, supportive husband. He seems to be the primary carer for the three children in the family and Alison is undoubtedly the head of the household. Also, I saw an ad the other day on TV where the wife was ringing home to say “what’s for dinner?” whilst she put on her smart business suit jacket at the office – and on the other end of the phone the panicked husband was running around the house trying to think of something suitably impressive to make for her. In another of my favourite shows (NCIS) the director and boss of the investigative unit is a powerful (and undeniably sexy) woman. In fact, everywhere one looks there is evidence of a gradual societal change – it is not that long ago (1970’s?) that such a character would have seemed contrived, but now it is perfectly natural.
From my personal perspective, I do think this is a shift towards the natural order of things. In my own life, I am happily married with children. I have been living in a Fem-dom relationship for at least 5 years but did not even realise that there was such a label until I first came across your site about 18 months ago – and what an eye –opener it was! It allowed me to better organise my feelings and to work more purposefully towards a happy relationship with my wife and the results have been very satisfactory and a little intriguing.
