Real Life Stories - June 2010
Screen 20 of 31
If you work out the math you can see that I was 17 when I met William and he was 27. I was brought up in a large, very religious home and attended a private school where basically physical and emotional abuse of children was commonplace. At home I was taught to "shut-up and know my place" and often felt "lost amongst many". At school I always felt "thick", useless and that I was never good enough. By the time I met William I was emotionally scarred and had low self-esteem and confidence. Falling in love with William enabled me to start feeling good about myself and I couldn't imagine how I could have healed myself without his enduring love and support. I know that we would not have survived all we have been through without that love!
