A man who respects women can view erotic material without dehumanizing women. To the man with a worshipful attitude, the woman is a Goddess女神 — a woman treated as divine and any erotic value can stimulate passion, which can lead to intimacy between two people who love each other. So it boils down to the attitude of the person viewing the erotica. To dehumanize the woman is to turn the eroticism into pornography. To devalue love and to turn sexuality from intimacy into a selfish lust is pornography. Eroticism can be art and spiritual. God created the female-form and God created sex. It is only dirty to the mind full of guilt and shame. But perverting the female-form and sexuality by dehumanizing the woman into an object of male indulgence and selfishness is pornography.
Now please hear me for I am not saying that you set out to dehumanize women. Pornography can snare the unsuspecting person who has personal issues. You more than likely started out like most any other American male who was aroused at the sight of your first Playboy magazine. But for whatever reason (your upbringing, your childhood hurts, or some genetic reason) you became ensnared by pornography and your natural affection for women became hindered by the viewing of women in pornography. Thus you have been unable to be intimate with a woman. You have become addicted to pornography.
