Q. Ms Sutton, Based on your years of academic research, do males generally get more confused in the academic setting or on standardized tests? I took a college course on deductive logic once and would struggle for an hour on one homework problem, and then return to class to see a young woman student work out the very same symbolic logic problem on the board and she would take up the entire black board writing her proof. I was wowed and couldn't believe it as she successfully solved the problem! Also, I took the LSAT (law school admissions test) a couple of times and scored 131 and then 133. These scores are not adequate for law school admissions. I took the prep course and studied too. In both attempts, I would work pretty well for an hour to an hour and half. Then I would get quite flustered, befuddled, or whatever term you prefer. I would have to shake out my head! A woman career counselor at my college, who also took the LSAT several years ago and scored 172 and got into a great law school, but decided to earn her Ph.D instead and become a psychologist, helped me out.
