The story of the fall is the spiritual story of the pride of man. “Pride goeth before the fall.” Before the fall, woman was in authority and man listened to woman for advice and wisdom. Why do you think the serpent tempted Eve and not Adam? The serpent knew Adam would do whatever Eve told him to do. The fruit was not an apple or fruit that people eat. The fruit is a spiritual fruit, the negative fruit that comes from the pride of life (anger, malice, greed, lust, hatred, etc.) The Bible says that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc.
Eve was deceived by the serpent but Adam was not. Adam made his decision with the full knowledge of what he was doing. Thus Adam caused the fall of mankind as man left paradise and the tree of life (God) and lived according to his own will. Once the spiritual aspect was dead, Eve was no longer in authority because now the physical ruled and man was stronger physically and would rule through intimidation (God told Eve her desire would now be toward her husband).
