I think God’s judgment to Eve about child bearing was not that God was making it painful because of what woman did in surrendering her position of authority. I think God was simply telling Eve that outside of Eden, there will be pain, including child bearing. But joy comes afterwards. God also told Eve that her seed would defeat the seed of the serpent. Christians believe that the seed of Eve was Jesus, who was born of woman apart from a man and who redeemed mankind back to God. The Tree of Life is mentioned again in the last book of the Bible, in the book of Revelation when it talks about a future Heaven on earth.

I realize this response has little meaning to those who do not study the Bible, but to those that do, I hope you will search this out for yourself and that perhaps you will re-read the Genesis account with a fresh perspective. Don’t look at fruit as being apples but look at fruit and trees and serpents as having spiritual meaning.
